For many this may be the very first time you have heard about Reiki or perhaps you have heard about it but it sounded kind of “out there”. As with many of the alternative healing methods or energy practices, it can be very hard to grasp what it is all about.

For the majority of the life of the earth healing was done with herbs, spices, and practices that today are considered pretty out there but only because we have been raised in a modern medicine era. But these techniques have survived, been reborn and are still being used today with great success.

So lets start out by defining what Reiki is.

“Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction an relaxation that also promotes healing” (The Reiki Touch – William Lee Rand)

This is a very accurate statement as to what Reiki can do.

So what can you expect during a treatment?

The first time we meet we will talk a bit about you and your reason for coming in. Reiki will do what is in your best interest but its always good ft or your practitioner to know why you are there.

As a practitioner, I hold everything you say to me in the strictest confidence.

A full “in person” Reiki Treatment is performed with you lying, fully clothed, on your back on a comfortable massage table. Soft music is played in the background and perhaps some Essential Oils will be diffusing in the room for calmness and serenity.

The Practitioners hands will be placed on or close to  key locations along your body and each position is held from 3-5 minutes which allows the energy to flow through the practitioners hands and into all areas of your body. The standard hand positions correspond to the major chakras and each hand position also covers several major organs in your body. The practitioner may also use her intuition to place her hands where she feels the energy is needed.

Where does this Energy come from?

Reiki Energy is a subtle energy from a Higher Source. The practitioner has been attuned to receive this subtle energy through the crown chakra. It flows out her hand chakras and into the recipient. It is “God Energy”. Everyone has access to this energy and its quite easy to be attuned to this energy but not everyone wants it.

I asked for it, to heal myself and my family as well as to serve others. It is a responsibility I do not take lightly.
