Labradorite – The stone of transformation

Labradorite – The stone of transformation

The shimmering beautiful Labradorite stone seems to have flooded the US in the last past year, and rightly so. This beautiful stone, first discovered in Labrador Canada in 1770 by missionaries, where it gets its name, has amazing colors and “flash” that draw the eye.

Labradorite, also known as spectrolite or labrodite, is a member of the Feldspar Family with a Mohs Hardness of 6. Although it can be found in Newfoundland, India, Russia, Mexico, Finland, and the USA, most of today’s stone comes from Madagascar.

Labradorite appears as a grey stone but if cut correctly, the color changing “flash”, known as labradorescence , can result in iridescent flashes of brilliant blue, gold, green, or coppery red, reminiscent of the colors of a peacock. The shimmering, optical  effect is known as the “ Schiller” effect. The colors do not exist in the stone but are result of “light play”. Therefore labradorites beauty is best seen when the stone is moved or rotated within a light source. This stone makes for amazing jewelry since we are usually always in motion, it truly catches the eye

Labradorite has been used by shamans, and healers when seeking divine knowledge. The Eskimo Intuit people claim that it fell from the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis and opened the Northern Lights.

As a metaphysical, healing stone Labradorite is known as the “Bringer of Light”, a Stone of Transformation and a stone of Magic. I often wear a Labradorite necklace reminding me that the world is a magickal place.

It’s a powerful protector, protecting against negativity and misfortune by deflecting energy away from your aura. It helps us connect to universal energies, helps us activate our psychic abilities, opens our intuitive nature. As a protective stone it works best at deflecting negative energies away from our Aura and places a protective barrier between your energy system and others. It also helps prevent subtle energy leaks. It allows for drawing  subconscious thoughts to the surface as well as it helps with bringing up past memories that have been forgotten so you can release them. An excellent stone for relieving anxiety and stress, it also helps with removing fears and insecurities, allowing for a sense of peace, calm and balance in one’s life. Labradorite is a wonderful stone to energize your imagination and creativity. Can be used as an elixir to dispel negativity and boost your well being

Labradorite falls under the signs of Sagittarius, Scorpio and Leo. It works well on the Throat, Third Eye and Crown Chakras.

As for physical healing it is said that Labradorite works with Lung and Respiratory problems including  colds, and bronchitis. It helps with rheumatism, gout, and arthritis and resulting pain. It supports the Metabolism, digestion and Blood pressure. It can treat disorders of the eyes. Since it is associated with the moon it can help with hormones, PMS symptoms, pain and heavy menstruation. It can also help with detoxifying effects when trying to quit smoking, drugs or alcohol

Selenite – the Moon Crystal

Selenite – the Moon Crystal

Several weeks ago  i went into a furniture store and they had the most amazing, huge selenite (Satin Spar) wand for sale. It was a most unlikely thing to find in this store. Needless to say this milky white gem came home with me.

Selenite is a very soft stone with a Mohs hardness of 2 so its not a very durable stone, and is easily scratched or damaged however its is one every energy healer should have in her tool box. As a thermal conductor it is often warmer to the touch.

Selenite is a crystalized form of the mineral gypsum and its very abundant, mostly found in Australia, Greece, Mexico and the USA. Because of its soft nature it is often used to bring light into home decor. The Basilica Santa Sabina in Rome, has white window panes made entirely from Selenite. Because of its soft nature and transparent beauty you can readily find Selenite carved into hearts, wands, and globes. It is also available as towers as a candle holder or a light.  In Chihuahua, Mexico the “Cave of the Crystals” located in the Naica Mines, houses some of the largest Selenite crystal formations. One is over 39 feet and weights over 55 tons.

Selenite is a cleansing stone and is often used to cleanse other stones. In my case, the selenite wand I spoke about has been placed in my crystal cabinet to keep all my other stones cleansed and ready to use. It is often stated that Selenite never needs cleansing itself but i personally like to cleanse it every once in awhile just to keep it vibrant. Since it is a soft stone never put this one in water to cleanse. My prefered method is a full moon cleansing. It is said that it is a strong enough to clean even crystal quartz.

Its an angelic stone and with it you can call upon the angels for protection. Placed around all corners of your home, Selenite can protect your home and create a place of calm and peace. In my pottery studio i have used Selenite to grid the space and people all the time tell me what a calm, nurturing space it is.

When you are wanting to make a connection to the spiritual realm, like angels, guides, ancestors  and our higher self, place selenite all around you to assist. Since Selenite is the color of the moon, and its named after Selene, the goddess lf the moon, it will help you tap into moon energy. Its energy is that of feminine goddess energy.

Since it is a cleansing stone, Selenite can be used to cleanse your energy chakras as well as you aura. Wands made of Selenite are often used in Magic or to direct energy.

Other healing properties of this shimmering, high vibrational stone are: connecting to the crown or higher crown chakras, mental awareness, intuition. Its useful for meditation and scrying.

Crystals, Essential Oils and Chicken Soup Kick Some Serious Butt!

Crystals, Essential Oils and Chicken Soup Kick Some Serious Butt!

Yesterday was an icky day, one of those days when you know you should have stayed home but decided to be a Warrior Goddess and tough it out. It was storming outside and cold. The day before was a really long day and I slept pretty awful so I was really tired and dragging. I had a Reiki appointment first thing in the morning but my day was open for the rest of the day which I was really grateful for. It was my intention to be gentle and kind to myself, straighten up the studio, do some product photography, pet the cats. Easy Peasy stuff. But as the day wore on I got more and more tired and my head started to ache. I was dragin, that is whenever I decided to move.

I started searching for chocolate, a sure sign that I was heading down the wrong path.

By 3:30, with my head pounding  I knew it was time to call it quits and head home.   When I got home I scrounged around looking for my Blue Lace Agate, a crystal perfect for headaches. The house was quiet so I laid down with the stone on my forehead and immediately fell asleep (or under the spell from the crystal)! 20 minutes later I woke up, a bit dazed, but with my headache considerably better.

But not gone

And I knew it wanted to come back. Not wanting to search high and low for my Essential Oil headache blend I grabbed the first thing I could find that I thought would help, Frankincense. I applied a drop to my forehead and temple. My next thought was food…. I was hungry, yet still cold so some chicken soup sounded good. When Ben came in he asked if I was coming down with a cold because I was stuffy sounding and coughing.

What?   I ain’t got time for that crap.

So out came the OnGuard, which I rolled on my feet. I settled in for some TV watching, curled up on the couch under a blanket, feeling sorry for myself. An hour later (I kid you not) I noticed that I stopped coughing, I stopped sniffling, I wasn’t tired and I wasn’t headachy.

Crystals, Essential Oils and Chicken Soup Kicked some serious butt!

And I am pretty sure I threw some Reiki into that mix as well. Today I feel great, back to work and ready to go. I love all the natural things I have at my disposal to keep me healthy. I love talking about Crystals, Essential Oils, Reiki. I am not a big fan however on cooking so don;t ask about the chicken soup. Got a comment or question?  Ask below or send me a private message. I will be glad to help.
Crystal Grid for Reiki Healing

Crystal Grid for Reiki Healing

One of my favorite uses for my crystals is in a crystal grid. These lovely to look at displays are more than just eye candy. They are powerful manifesters, using multiple gems and crystals for one purpose.

Crystal Grid on Flower of Life

Crystal Grid For those in need of Reiki

Just to show you how powerful these crystal grids can be, I created the crystal layout above on. FLOWER OF LIFE embroidered cloth I have available in my store. The Flower of Life is Sacred Geometry, powerful in itself, but more powerful with lovely healing crystals.

The intention for a grid is the first thing you need to decide on. For this Grid my intention was Reiki. I live in a small town, in the middle of the Bible Belt Oklahoma and Reiki, or any alternative healing modality is unheard of. This makes it difficult for me, a Reiki Practitioner, to get the word out.

I had an upcoming series of Reiki Classes and plenty of appointment times open for Reiki Sessions. The intention I set for the grid was to make me visible to anyone needing Reiki or wanting to learn Reiki.

Within a day of setting up the grid, a gal walks into the shop, in tears and in need of a hug. I had met her once before but briefly. She told me that she didn’t know why she stopped in but felt she needed to. We talked, I listened, I gave her Reiki and a hug. She felt the call of the grid.

And my Reiki classes were very well attended.

Crystal Grids work and they work well.

For more ideas on Crystal Grids and Crystal Layouts, I have a Pinterest Board where I am pinning those that I find valuable as well as beautiful, I love seeing what others do.

Crystal Chakra Generator

Crystal Chakra Generator

Many years ago, while I was a new Reiki Practitioner (Level 1 if I recall correctly) I sat in and worked with a Reiki Master during a client Session. She had the most beautiful crystal piece I had ever seen and would place it on the clients’ body as she was intuitively guided. I did not know what it was but I knew I wanted one. I later learned it was called a Crystal Chakra Generator.

One day, while shopping around online, I came across one and just had to have it.  It was then that a[amazon_textlink asin=’B00LTHGZTS’ text=’ Chakra Generator ‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’esslivrei-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’059748a1-0e37-11e7-8185-f10a2e6c897d’]entered my life.

At first, I really did not know what to do with it and there is very little information out there on them so I thought I would share what and how I use it.

My Crystal Chakra Generator has 7 gemstone crystal points, representing the seven chakras, all pointing outward. In the center, representing the 8th Chakra, the “seat of the soul”., is a  conical pyramid shaped clear crystal.

There are several different configurations you can get that focus on one chakra or all clear quartz. I personally wanted one that would fill all my needs so I chose the one with the points that represent all seven chakras.

My favorite way of using my Crystal Chakra Generator is the center of a crystal grid as shown in the picture of my grid below.  The energy from the surrounding crystals with my intentions flow into the Chakra points and then out into the universe. To me, it just feels so all inclusive, that no matter what the intent of my grid it, I have it covered with the generator as the center.
Crystal Chakra Generator

For healing, these lovely chakra generators can be placed directly over a blocked chakra to aid in unblocking, balancing and healing. If you are unsure of what chakra needs assistance you can place over the Solar Plexus Chakra which is located an inch or so above your belly button.

You can use it right side up or upside down, depending on your need and intuition. I will place the generator right side up if I am sending Reiki into a specific area. It intensifies and pinpoints the energy.   If I am wanting to dispel a blockage or release/remove negativity I will turn the generator upside down, with the center point facing down. Some practitioners do it just the opposite. For me, right now, that is what feels correct.  Remember, it’s all about intention!

As a Reiki Practitioner, I can use it to send long distance healing to those requesting it. I send Reiki to the center quartz, using the symbols I am attuned to, including the long distance symbol with the intention that the energy flow through the crystal and out the points to whoever needs it. If you are not yet attuned to the symbols or even Reiki you can still set the intention to the universe.

They are also a wonderful aid to use while meditating.

When not in use, leave them out, not only for their beauty but because they will help keep your space energetically cleansed.

Feel free to leave a comment below with your favorite way of using Crystal Chakra Generators.
